DIFFERENCES IN TERMS OF STRUCTURE In terms of their structure, the differences between Graphic Novel, Manga, and Doodle Fiction are that Manga is read from right to left, while the graphic novel is longer comic stories and the doodle fiction uses styles of drawing and handwriting graphics to show stories. SIMILARITIES A graphic novel is essentially a book-format comic book, with a spine instead of staples, and distributed instead of a magazine like a book. ‘Manga’ is literally the Japanese word for comics, which generally refers exclusively to comics of the Japanese style when used in English.
