DIFFERENCES IN TERMS OF STRUCTURE

In terms of their structure, the differences between Graphic Novel, Manga, and Doodle Fiction are that Manga is read from right to left, while the graphic novel is longer comic stories and the doodle fiction uses styles of drawing and handwriting graphics to show stories.

SIMILARITIES

A graphic novel is essentially a book-format comic book, with a spine instead of staples, and distributed instead of a magazine like a book.

‘Manga’ is literally the Japanese word for comics, which generally refers exclusively to comics of the Japanese style when used in English.

Manga is typically, but not always, written in a graphic novel format in English. Although they are also often available in the format of a comic book or daily magazine.

DIFFERENCES IN TERMS OF ELEMENTS

Graphic Novel is also an American abbreviation for a collection of single-issue comics, or a longer work in the American-comic style, so this can become confusing.

In contrast to the American right to left way of reading, manga is drawn in a highly stylized manner and usually aimed at reading left to right.

Doodle fiction seems similar to a conventional book, but takes on its art and lettering with a severely hand-drawn aesthetic, while the other two start with hand-drawn art and then use shortcuts to finish the job, such as tone and digital editing. Although I have no doubt that Doodle Fiction does this as well, they seem to be used more extensively by American Comics and Manga, opting for a more polished look.
